Ristorante Mietres

WELCOME

A jewel above Cortina

The Mietres Refuge lies at the foot of Mount Pomagagnon, in one of Cortina d’Ampezzo’s most beautiful and sunlit spots. From its large sun terrace at 1710 metres above sea level you can  admire the Ampezzo Valley and the magnificent peaks encircling it: a breathtaking panorama panning from Mount Faloria to the Tofane group, right in the heart of the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The numerous pleasant and relaxing paths linking the refuge to Cortina and to Rio Gere provide easy access for all and sundry to the Mietres Refuge on foot or by mountain bike. A stop for a break or for lunch at the refuge is guaranteed to put the finishing touch to an unforgettable day in the open air. In winter, on request we can provide heated snowmobiles and snowcats. In summer we operate a jeep service on request for dinners and events.

RESTAURANT AND REFUGE

For all occasions

The restaurant’s spacious indoor dining room seats up to 80/90 people, and the sizeable viewing terrace affords a view of the incomparable natural setting: features that make the refuge the ideal location for dinners, weddings and events, transforming every occasion into a unique day guaranteed to succeed. Of the many activities organized by the Mietres Refuge, some have become regular features not to be missed, such as the Wednesday musical evenings forenthusiasts of off-piste skiing and snow shoe hiking, or the dinners with ascent by snowmobile. In summer, our younger guests can have fun in the meadows surrounding the refuge and in the fully equipped play area.

ON OUR TABLE

Authentic flavours and ingredients

The cuisine at the Mietres Refuge is characterised by its variety of home-made dishes,  inventive interpretations along the lines of the Ampezzo Valley and mountain traditions. On our table you can savour genuine aromas and flavours: how could it be otherwise, given the enchanting place where we live and work? Special mention goes to the desserts, created by Ivan, the proprietor of the refuge, whose many years of experience as a pastry chef ensure desserts for all tastes. The choice is yours: lunch or dinner, restaurant or terrace… no experience will be the same, and you will always be pleasantly surprised!

HOW TO GET TO THE REFUGE

Where we are

In summer the Mietres Refuge can be reached on foot or by mountain bike along unmetalled roads and signposted paths from two main accesses: From Rio Gere (state route ss48 via the Tre Croci Pass) The first access starts around 5 km from Cortina, leading up the road to the Tre Croci Pass. When you get to the locality of Rio Gere – Larieto, proceed on foot along an easy mule track which plunges into an enchanting larch forest, and you will reach the Mietres Refuge in around 20 minutes. This forest road is ideal for anyone seeking a relaxing walk and in particular for families with children since it can also be accessed using mountain buggies. From the hamlet of Chiave From the village of Chiave, north of Cortina, you go up to the locality of Col Tondo, where you park your car and proceed on foot along the unmetalled road going up by the side of the chairlift. IN WINTER TOO

In Winter too

In winter you can take the same path as in summer starting from the locality of Larieto; as the  snow on the forest road is frequently flattened by snowmobile, it is suitable for snow shoes, off-piste skis or suitable walking boots. Alternatively, provided you find out beforehand whether a track has been beaten by the snowcat, you can get up to the refuge along the track of the former ski slope going up from Guargnè – Col Tondo to Mietres. Please note that on request we can arrange transport to the refuge by our own means or using independent shuttle services in summer and winter (services to be negotiated).
